Welcome to the Parish
Our vision
In this Unique Venue our aim is to promote and share what it has to offer. The core of the Christian Life as expressed in the richness of the Anglican way is our ethos, and forms the basis of what we are and what we do.
Early Anglican Christianity
Anglican Christianity is unique in that it draws on the collective experience of the early centuries of the Church, it also owes much to the richness and vigour of the Ancient Celtic Tradition, and Pre-Reformation Catholicism. However the European Reformation of the 16th century impacted greatly, giving rise to the description of the Church being Catholic yet Reformed. It retained the essentials of the received Apostolic Catholic Faith.
Recent Anglican Christianity
The name Anglican indicates roots in the 'Church of England', a name used in this country until the mid 1970’s.
The Anglican Tradition is diverse, democratic, and inclusive, also embracing aspects of Eastern Orthodoxy. Like almost everything else, it has undergone much change in the last 30 – 40 years. However it strongly remains a major feature of the world-wide Anglican Church, as one of the visible signs of unity, to remain in Communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury (primus inter pares)—first among equals.
The Anglican Church is part of the Universal Church of Christ on Earth, whose purpose is to worship God and proclaim the message of wholeness, forgiveness, reconciliation, love, hope and community, those things most urgently needed for the Human condition and in its very diversity has much to offer the present age.
